The African Business Aviation Association (AfBAA) was established in 2012 as a not-for-profit organisation that fosters increased knowledge and understanding of business aviation in Africa, and promotes the tangible benefits that business aviation can contribute to Africa’s economic development and prosperity.
In 2018, AfBAA widened its remit to include both business and general aviation in Africa. This has significantly expanded and strengthened AfBAA’s footprint on the continent and has firmly positioned it as the official Voice of Business and General Aviation in Africa.
AfBAA’s aim is to promote business and general aviation as a positive tool for economic development in Africa that is valued and supported by African governments, Civil Aviation Authorities and aviation industry stakeholders throughout Africa.
AfBAA’s Guiding Principles (ASSIST) are:
Advocacy – AfBAA will play a key role in advocating the benefits of business and general aviation to African governments and regulatory authorities on behalf of its members.
Safety – AfBAA will work with its members and aviation regulatory authorities to achieve the highest safety standards in the continent’s business and general aviation industry.
Security – AfBAA will work with its members and aviation regulatory authorities to achieve the highest levels of security in the business and general aviation industry.
Integrity – AfBAA will conduct all its actions with the highest level of integrity and transparency.
Service – AfBAA will serve its members by supporting professional programmes that foster the growth of business and general aviation in Africa.
Training – AfBAA will promote tailor-made training programmes with the objective of achieving global standards for the business and general aviation industry.
