Introducing AfBAA Members
Mrs Agnes Phillips
Having joined NAC in August of 1989, I embarked on an aviation adventure driven predominantly in the area of aircraft sales. I completed a private pilots license soon after having arrived at the company which cemented my love and understanding for this industry and all aspects of it. Aircraft sales, in particular, I found to be exciting and stimulating, which after 34 years, is still the case. With vast experience in international transactions in all types of general aviation and light airline type aircraft, aircraft transactions in Africa remain a priority with the intention of building a sustainable pipeline of aircraft for operators and private owners. This, together with mentoring younger professionals to join this industry we so love.

For any of your aircraft requirements, she is an amazing lady that will always take the time to assist.

Are You Training with the Best Instructors?
When a pilot is facing the toughest challenges – a mountainous airport at night, with gusty winds and visibility to a minimum – it’s crucial to have training to rely on. Even better is to know that your training comes from pilots who have been there before.
That’s the backbone of FlightSafety: expert instructors who don’t just talk the talk, they’ve flown the flights. Just like you, they’re continually improving their skills, taking recurrent and advanced training courses to ensure that the next time you’re in the cockpit, you’re prepared for anything.
Our instructors are well-versed in the aircraft, through military, corporate and flight test experience. But also because they’re always eager to improve, to continue to learn. They challenge themselves in order to be able to handle the most difficult conditions you will face.
Through action and instruction, the questions you ask have already been answered in their own training. You benefit from a culmination of that vast knowledge and expertise from some of the best pilots in the world.
FlightSafety instructors offer seamless ways to benefit from simulator training, creating scenario-based instruction and a more focused learning environment. They’re dedicated to your success and committed to making a difference in aviation safety.
Take your next course from the experts who go beyond proficiency to prepare you for anything.

We have created the register of defaulter companies in aviation in order to create effective control over unscrupulous companies which refuse to pay debts for airport taxes, payment of bills for ground handling, refueling and other related services. Moreover, it's an additional tool for influencing them from the side of the entire aviation community. Our history originates from an experience of cooperation with defaulters. That's why we are establishing a powerful tool to avoid unreliable suppliers and the ability to blacklist those who have violated their obligations. Blacklist gives tremendous opportunities to influence shadow companies TO CREATE A CLEAN COLLABORATIVE AVIATION ENVIRONMENT.

Keep passengers and crew safe and fuel costs down
Turbulence is increasing and the current products to track and avoid it have significant limitations, due to imprecise location, subjectivity and time lag. To ensure passengers and cabin attendants are secured, commercial and business aviation pilots keep seatbelt signs on and will often change altitude looking for smooth air. This causes travelers to feel constrained and lose confidence in safety instructions, and can also lead to fuel inefficiencies. Your pilots and dispatchers need accurate information pinpointing the location and intensity of turbulence, to best advise passengers and crew and optimize fuel burn.
Turbulence is a major safety concern. Each year, a significant number of people are injured by turbulence, while not wearing seatbelts. Cabin attendants are particularly at risk. Occasionally, turbulence events require an aircraft to divert, with all the inconvenience and associated costs that entails. Lacking accurate information to guide them, pilots may opt to minimize risk, but this can adversely impact fuel costs. With industry-wide sharing of actual occurrences, in real time, pilots could take appropriate action with confidence.

Dear Industry Colleagues, Good Day from Montréal, Canada,
Earlier this month, Bombardier presented strong 2023 fourth quarter and full-year financial results which either met or exceeded the company’s 2023 guidance (depending on the reporting period referred to). Bombardier also unveiled its guidance for 2024, which reflects the company’s steady progress towards its long-term objectives.

The Royal Aeronautical Society Space Group Early Careers Sub-committee's (ECS) Space Pathways & Skills Survey is now live and open until end of March 2024.
The questionnaire gives RAeS members the opportunity to provide insights on their experience of Space sector career pathways & skills. It may take up to 10 minutes to complete (but on average should be completable in ~6 minutes).
The survey aims to understand the experiences of (primarily) those who hold or previously held roles in the Space sector, to learn about their journey and roles within the Space sector, alongside the top skills in their role(s). However, it is not limited to only those who have experience of working in the Space sector & we are keen to have feedback from anybody who is willing to respond - all insights are welcomed & will provide a balanced study on the perception of skills and skills outside of the Space sector.
The results of this survey will feed into a bigger picture, working in collaboration with the UK Space Agency, Space Skills Alliance, etc. to inform strategies to support developments on Space sector skills gaps, increasing visibility of pathways into the space sector for all career levels, and a census of professional registration in the Space sector.
As with all surveys, we need as many members as possible to complete the questionnaire to gather the most representative view.

Human Factors Training: Think Outside The Box
Bob Baron, Ph.D.
The Aviation Consulting Group
Very often, a Human Factors (HF) course is just a “check the box” event. The class is conducted, a test is given, and a certificate is issued. Then it’s back to business as usual. Unfortunately, as a “check the box” course, the training will not likely go outside the classroom. This type of course can be a waste of time and money, and a missed opportunity for errorreduction strategies to actually be applied to the practical working environment.
